HIGH SCHOOL PROMPTS

“We don’t need to eat anyone who would run, swim, or fly away if he could.”

The topic of the food we eat can be very controversial, and actor James Cromwell’s quote puts us right in the middle of it.

So, what do YOU eat, and why do you eat it?

High School Writing Prompt - What do you eat? In honor of World Vegetarian Day, this high school writing prompt asks you to think about what you eat and defend your position. #homeschool #homeschoolwriting #writingprompts #highschool #worldvegetarianday

Now it’s your turn: Choose one of the questions below and write a paragraph to answer it:

1. Do you agree with Cromwell that we should not eat animals that can run, swim, or fly away from us? Explain your answer.

2. Are there any guidelines for the kinds of meat we should eat? Explain.

3. Should animals be referred to as people by using pronouns like “anyone” and “he”?

4. If you are a vegan or vegetarian, defend your position. If you are an omnivore, defend your position. If you hold a different position on what foods to eat, defend that as well.
