SHARON’S BLOG

So much anxiety about the future. Emotions running hot. Fearful thoughts about what lies ahead.

As I pondered these for our nation, the world, and my own life, I was troubled.

I recently heard a radio pastor mention that the Lord says one thing to us more than anything else: “Fear not.”

This stunned me. It wasn’t a new command to be obeyed. It wasn’t an edict. It was a holding of the hand.

It said to me, “Look, I know life is hard and sometimes you are at the mercy of forces way beyond your control. When I say ‘Fear not,’ I’m telling you that I know what’s going on. I know how hard it is. You are in my hands. I will not let the craziness damage you or your family beyond repair. I care about you and love you. I’ve got this.”

I am practicing “fear not” days in my life. When I feel the anxiety rising, I follow the directions in Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

I’m no gold-medal contender for worry-free days; I keep practicing.

After I read a few “fear not” passages in Scripture, I wanted to make and share images that would help me remember who is holding my hand. I hope they encourage you today as much as they encouraged me.

Feel free to share them. You’ll find more on our Facebook page.
