MIDDLE SCHOOL PROMPTS

What are you afraid ofEveryone has stuff they don’t like doing or stuff that creeps them out.

That’s true for Howie Mandel, comedian and former host of the TV show Deal or No Deal. He hates shaking hands with people because of all the germs he can get from one handshake. Now he uses a fist bump.

“I do it because it just uses the outside of my hand. I can do it and still hold a sandwich. But when I get home, I wash my fists,” he tells Healthy Living (November/December 2012).

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020-2021, many people are learning a new emotional experience of fear and disgust, especially of being around others or in a crowd, according to National Geographic.

What would you like to avoid? What creeps you out? What are you afraid of?

Now it’s your turn: Write down something you would like to avoid or something that creeps you out.

Then write a paragraph about how you would go about avoiding that thing (like Howie Mandel avoiding germs with the fist bump), or tell the story of how you already have avoided it.
